LEARN Saves Lives

Background

LEARN is evidence-informed, which means that its concepts and materials are drawn directly from well-established research. Evaluation of LEARN is underway.

Forefront Suicide Prevention began development of LEARN as a live training in 2012 and currently offers versions tailored for several audiences, including higher education faculty and staff, and higher education students. Forefront recommends separate trainings for these two audiences.

Forefront created this training for one specific reason: Reducing access to lethal means is missing or given inadequate weight in many evidence-based recognition and referral trainings. This causes concern because reducing access to highly lethal suicide methods is established as one of the most effective ways to prevent suicide. (Barber, Miller 2014)
